Heavys H1H Headphones Review- made for metal - honest review

Headphones come in all price ranges and quality levels. But headphones specifically designed for a particular genre are something new. And that's exactly what HEAVYS are – headphones designed specifically for heavy music lovers.

Of course, a very special reason to get our hands on the HEAVYS and put them through their paces!

Figures, data, facts

First, some specs about the headphones. These full-size, around-the-ear headphones are equipped with eight speakers , promising immersive and superior sound. The placement of these speakers within the headphones is patented and optimized for the best possible setup.

The HEAVYS work wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.1 (frequency range 5 Hz to 24 kHz) or via USB-C cable (frequency range 5 Hz to 46 kHz).

Noise cancelling is of course a must these days and is also a top priority for HEAVY VOLUMES.

The headphones are equipped with a few – but sufficient – buttons directly on the headset. This allows you to adjust the volume, pause and play music, skip tracks, and also directly answer or end calls.

The HEAVYS headphones are priced in the higher range. You'll pay just €310 including DUTIES (which can range up to 25% in EU) for the headphones, including a carrying case and fast international shipping. However, there are frequent discounts and special offers, so you can often snag the bundle for much less

Blast That Metal

But what – besides impressive specs – can the HEAVYS actually deliver when it comes to music? Do they bring the promised "live music" feeling to your ears, or do they simply join the ranks of exceptional headphones?

Absolutely not! This product delivers exactly what it promises, and fans of loud and heavy music will definitely get their money's worth. You can tell that this wasn't just some random product; with Axel Grell (Lead Engineer, formerly of Sennheiser) at the helm of production, he definitely brought his expertise to the table!

Anyone who puts on the HEAVYS for the first time and cranks up some heavier music genres will immediately notice that there's truth in the promises! The four drivers per side – compared to the usual one per side – definitely make a significant difference!

The music doesn't just sound like it's been mixed together haphazardly; the melody, instruments, and especially the vocals are incredibly pleasing and distinct, creating an ideal listening experience for the genre. Whether it's the highs, lows, or mids – the mix is perfect without any need for tweaking!

Particularly noticeable – no matter what volume you listen to your music at (and we've pushed the controls all the way to the limit here): The music remains clear and doesn't eventually devolve into annoying scratching and noise.

This isn't by chance; HEAVYS has developed its own "psycho-acoustic technology" for this purpose. This technology maps different frequencies to specific volume levels, thus generating more volume but less pressure on the ears.
This likely results in the only minor drawback we have to mention, which almost overshadows itself. Depending on the device you connect the HEAVYS to, the maximum volume might not always be what you're used to from other headphones. Don't get me wrong – the HEAVYS can get quite loud without any problems! But they are just a touch quieter than the rest.

However, the good sound quality is maintained until the very end, and we trade a minimal loss in maximum volume for clear sound right up to the very last loud volume! Therefore, there's not much to be gained here, because with many other headphones, maximum volume is simply unbearable due to the resulting poor sound quality, even noise.

Wearing comfort

As far as comfort is concerned, the HEAVYS are also beyond reproach. Although they aren't exactly lightweight headphones, the weight isn't noticeable thanks to the comfortable headband and earcups.

The over-ear headphones seal well but aren't too tight, so they don't feel uncomfortable or constricting after prolonged wear. Even for glasses wearers, the headphones don't press painfully against the frames; instead, they fit almost snugly around them.

Wear it with style

The design of the HEAVYS is classic, like most over-ear headphones on the market. Nothing particularly stylish, but nothing to complain about either.

The slightly protruding connections to the earlobes take some getting used to, but are in no way excessively noticeable or even disturbing.

For those who find the standard, all-black, heavy style a bit too boring, there's also the option to personalize their headphones. The ear cup shells are interchangeable, and the website offers a large (and ever-growing) selection of additionally designed shells.

You can further promote a large number of popular bands by wearing their designs on your headphones. However, this will cost you a bit; the interchangeable shells start at a price of 35 euros.

What about the Games?

Sure, the Heavys are basically designed for hard sound, but with the included AUX cable they can also be easily used for sessions on a laptop or PC while gaming.

The eight built-in speakers simulate a 3D audio experience, especially in shooter games, allowing you to hear footsteps above, below, and beside you and pinpoint enemy locations more accurately. However, they can't compete with other gaming headsets that offer Dolby Surround sound. For casual gamers, and especially for use on the go, though, they offer significantly better performance than standard PC headphones.

To get the full performance out of the heavyweights, we naturally recommend games like Doom, Metal: Hellsinger or other games that are based on rock music and can reflect the full range of performance.

Don't Tweak That Sound (yet)

For all music fans and nerds who like to experiment with their own settings on various headphones to create their own perfect sound experience, the HEAVYS probably have one small drawback.

Currently, there is (still!) no way to customize the headphone settings; you have to make do with the settings as they come in the box. (Even though 99% of listeners probably won't find these settings objectionable.)

HEAVYS has announced that an app for the headphones will be released in the future, enabling exactly that. The app is expected to be released by the end of 2024 !

Conclusion

Anyone who buys the HEAVYS won't be disappointed! Sound quality, comfort, and design – they leave virtually nothing to be desired. Heavy music fans will definitely get their money's worth – although you can, of course, listen to all other music genres with the HEAVYS without any problems.

We are definitely convinced and our favorite (Nu)Metal and (Emo)Core playlists will probably only be blasted through our ears via the HEAVYS on the go!
